Update : 03 Aug 2015, 08:55 PM

A mobile court sentenced a youth to one year imprisonment for harassing a college girl yesterday afternoon.

Naldanga Upazila Nirbahi Officer Salma Akter Jahan gave the verdict against Anisur Rahman, 27, son of Naser Ali of Thakur-Lakkhikol village of Naldanga upazila.

Nazibul Islam, officer-in-charge of Naldanga police station, said Anis had been disturbing Saima Akter, an HSC second year student of Maharaja JN High School and College, also daughter of Hazrat Ali of the same village, on her way to school for long.

Several village arbitrations were held at the village where the arbitrators had fined the youth, but could not stop him from the evil task.

Yesterday afternoon, when Saima was going to home from college, the youth waylaid her and hurdled abusive languages at her.

On receiving information,  a team of Naldanga police detained him from his residence.

Afterward, a mobile court led by the upazila nirbahi gave the verdict against him.
