Another held in Rajon murder case

Police have detained another accused of the case filed over the brutal killing of 13-year-old boy Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon.

Family members of Dulal, 30, handed him over to local UP member. Then, the locals along with Upazila Chairman Ashfaq Ahmed handed him over to the police around 2:30pm Wednesday.

Jalalabadh OC Akhter Hossain confirmed about the detention to the Dhaka Tribune.

The OC said: “The family members were forced to hand over Dulal to the police seeing the intensified police patrolling in the area."

One Amir Hossain Sagar of the area said: “Dulal's mother and sister handed him over to the local UP member Gias Uddin in the afternoon.”

Later, the locals along with Gias and Upazila Chairman Ashfaq Ahmed handed him over to the police.

The ill-fated teenager was tortured to death by a group of persons at Kumargaon on the outskirts of Sylhet city around 7:30am on July 8.

A murder case was filed in this regard by Jalalabad police, in which Rajon’s father later became a plaintiff. Muhit was listed as the prime accused in the case, while his brother Kamrul Islam, 24, their accomplice Ali Haider, 34, and guard Moyna Miah, 45, were charged with murder as well.

A Sylhet court placed Muhit on a five-day remand on Monday in the case filed over Rajon's murder.

Muhit's cousin Ismail Hossain Ablus was detained on Monday in connection with the barbaric incident.
