The body of a missing housewife has been found in a floating sack in Dignagara Kumar river in the district's Maksudpur upazila.
Shanti Begum, wife of Ashraf Mridha, of Faridpur, went missing on June 5 on way to her father's house in Kanuriya village under Maksudpur upazila.
SI Abdus Salam of Sindiyaghat police outpost confirmed the recovery of the body.
He said: “Victim's sister Taslima identified the body. Later, it was sent to the Gopalganj General Hospital for autopsy.
“A case will be filed in this connection in a short time.”
The reason behind the death could not be known immediately.
However, victim's brother Ripon alleged that Shanti's in-laws murdered her in a planned way following family feud.
