A Dhaka court yesterday put two men on a three-day remand each in a case filed over Thursday’s killing of a college girl on her flat in the capital’s Mirpur.
They are Robin, 24, step-brother of Amena Khatun Reshma, and Md Milon, 42, a security guard of the building.
The two were detained hours after the body was recovered on Thursday morning.
“The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Dhaka gave the remand order after police produced the two suspects before the judge with a 10-day remand plea,” said Sub-Inspector Md Arefin Siddique of Mirpur Model police station, also the investigating officer of the case.
“Both Robin and Milon denied their involvement in the murder. Milon claimed he was not on duty when the crime was committed but we later found out that his statement was not true. His movement seemed suspicious,” he added.
Reshma’s parents, Mariam Begum and Alamgir Mia, were questioned about the murder on Thursday. Mariam filed the case with Mirpur Model police station Thursday night.
Reshma’s body was handed over to the family yesterday and she was buried in Mirpur. The girl was hacked to death when none of her parents was at home.
