Police in an overnight drive have sealed off two counterfeit food factories in Nisabazar and Panchim Amtta areas in Akkelpur upazila sadar.
During the drive that continued till early yesterday starting from Sunday evening, the law enforcement personnel detained seven people including the owner on charge of the illegal activities and they seized goods worth about Tk7 lakh.
Police said they being tipped-off conducted the drive in two units of “Barno Food and Bevarage” belonged to one named Feruj Hossain and found various sorts of food items with fake brands.
When asked, Akkelpur police station OC Ashraful Islam confirmed the incident, saying they have launched a case against Feruj Hossain in this connection.
