Magistrate testifies in Oishee case

One more prosecution witnesses gave deposition yesterday against Oishee Rahman and her two friends in a case filed over the killing of her parents Inspector of special branch Mahfuzur Rahman and Swapna Rahman in the capital in 2013.

Judge of Speedy Trial Tribunal 3 Sayeed Ahmed recorded the testimony of Dhaka’s Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mostafizur Rahman.

During the deposition, Mostafiz told the court that he had recorded statements of Imam Ali Sheikh and Roni Sikder as witnesses on August 29 and October 22, 2013.

The court later fixed June 29 for the next hearing in the case.

Police produced Oishee and her friend Asaduzzman Jony before the court from jail while another accused Mizanur Rahman Rony, now on bail, also appeared before it.

With this, a total of 32 witnesses have given deposition in connection with the case.

The bodies of Mahfuzur and his wife Swapna were found at their Chamelibagh residence on August 16, 2013.

Oishee, who had taken her O Level examination, surrendered to Paltan police station the following day.

Later, police arrested their housemaid Khadija Khatun Sumi, and Oishee’s friends Jony and Rony in connection with the case.

According to the charge sheets, Oishee alone killed her parents while Jony instigated the murders and Rony gave her shelter after the incident.

Sumi has also been accused of assisting Oishee in concealing the bodies.
