A man has allegedly hacked his brother-in-law to death at Badurtala area in Chittagong city’s Chawakbazar area over family dispute.
The deceased was identified as Towhidul Alam, 26, son of Rasidul Ahmed, hailing from Fatickchari upazila in Chittagong, said police sources.
Police arrested one Jane Alam alias Nazrul, 35, son of Ramzan Ali in connection with the murder case, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aziz Ahmed of Chawakbazar police station.
The OC said the incident took place at one house at Jongishah Majar at Badurtala area at the dead of the Saturday night.
Jane Alam used to torture on Towhid’s sister Nur Begum Sabina over family dispute and often used to lock altercation, said the OC.
The couple again locked into quarrel in their house on the night where Jane Alam hacked Towhid with a kitchen chopper as he tried to oppose his brother-in-law, leaving him critically injured, added the OC.
Towhid died on the way to hospital, said the OC adding that police later arrested the killer from the spot being informed.
A case was registered by Sabina accusing her husband with Chawakbazar police station following the murder.
