A rape case has been filed against a teacher of nutrition and food science department of Jessore Science and Technology University Syed Mahfuz Al Hasan by one of her female student on Friday.
The student filed the case with Kotwali police station in the afternoon.
According the case, Hasan used to visit the house of the girl. Promising to marry her, he raped the girl on June 27, 2013. The girl gave marriage proposal to Hasan on 16 February this year, but he refused to marry her.
On June 15, Hasan said the girl that he would never marry her and also threatened the girl with dire consequences, said the case statement.
Police conducted a drive at the house of the accused, but failed to arrest him.
Vice-Chancellor of the university said Professor Abdus Sattar told the Dhaka Tribune that a probe committee comprising Professor Iqbal Kabir Zahid, Dr Selina Begum and Dr Mir Mosarraf Hossain. The committee is investigating the matter, he said.
