A married couple was found dead at East Badda in the capital yesterday morning. Police suspect they committed suicide.
The deceased Md Shahin Islam, 30, from Gaibandha, and his wife Rubi Akhter, 18, from Lakshmipur, were found hanging from the ceiling of their residence, police sources told the Dhaka Tribune.
Locals said Shahin worked at a furniture shop near his residence. The couple recently moved into a room of a residential building at PC Bank Road area in East Badda.
Police sources said the couple’s bodies were first noticed by Shahin’s brother-in-law when he went there around 10:30am. But no one responded when he knocked at their door. Then he saw their bodies hanging from the wooden frame of the tin roof by scarves when he peeked into their room through a window.
“It seems they committed suicide, but we will be sure after investigation,” said Badda police station OC Abdul Jalil.
