A youth has been stabbed to death by snatchers in Station Road area of Tongi.
The deceased is Ringku, 25, son of Abdul Kaiyum, resident of Tongi's Gopalpur.
Police detained a snatcher, Al-Amin, in this connection.
Police said a group of snatchers obstructed Ringku and tried to snatch money while he was returning home around 10pm Friday. "As Rinku prevented them, they stabbed him."
Hearing Rinku's scream, locals rushed in and chased the snatchers and caught one of them.
Ringku was rushed to Tongi 50-Bed Hospital where on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Tongi police station SI Shamsul Alam Shahin said a case was filed in this connection.
