Missing schoolboy found dead

Update : 12 Jun 2015, 12:24 PM

The police have recovered the beheaded body of an abducted schoolboy from a jungle in Chittagong's Mirsarai upazila.

The victim, Farhan Shakib, 15, a class X student of local JB High School, went missing on June 6.

Jorarganj police station OC AKM Liakat Ali said Shakib's brother Rubel filed a General Diary in this connection on June 7.

“At one stage of investigation, SI Hamid, IO of the case, found Shakib's neighbour Sarwar's involvement by tracking the call list in the victim's recovered SIM.

“Police immediately picked up Sarwar's mother and brother for questioning. Acting on the information given by the detainees, RAB arrested another neighbour, Shahidul Islam from Feni, and handed him over to police.”

“During interrogation, Shahidul described why and how they [the abductors, including Sarwar] killed Shakib,” added the OC.

The police official quoted Shahidul saying: “Sarwar knew that the financial condition of Shakib's family is sound. He planned to kidnap the victim for a handsome ransom.

“He called Shakib over mobile phone and invited him to his in-law's house. Later, Sarwar picked the victim up from a local playground in the afternoon.”

“At one stage of the conversation, we [the abductors] came to know that Shakib already informed his family members about the invitation. Later, in order to avert any trouble, we planned to kill him,” added the criminal.

Sarwar and Shahidul, with the help of two other persons, took the victim to a jungle in the Kokerhat area, beheaded him at night and threw away the body, said the police.

The OC further said: “The victim's brother filed a murder case and the police are trying to capture the other criminals.”
