Law enforcers yesterday recovered bodies of two minors from different parts of the city who were kidnapped. They also arrested five for their alleged involvement in this. One of the victims has been missing for about four months.
The deceased are Abul Bashar, 11, son of Lokman Geda from Chotobighai area of Patuakhali, and Rifat, son Rafiqul Islam from Lalbagh in Dhaka.
Mohammad Ali, brother of Bashar, said Rabiul Islam Rubel, his paternal sister’s son had asked Bashar to come to Dhaka to work with him on February 10. On February 18, Rabiul called their father to inform that Bashar had gone missing. Yesterday around 5am, police arrested Shahidul Islam alias Bhutto, 20, and Rakibul Hasan Rocky. After their confession police recovered Bashar’s decomposed body from a well at Dwipnagar area, police said. Main suspect Rubel is now absconding.
In the other incident, RAB officials arrested three for abducting and murdering Rifat. After the arrestees’ confession RAB recovered the body from Buringa river at Kamrangir Char.
Rafiqul went to the RAB official on Wednesday afternoon after filing a general diary at Lalbagh police station. He informed that the kidnappers wanted Tk1 lakh at first but agreed to free Rifat that evening for only Tk40,000.
