Four people have been arrested at Poradiya area in Belabo, Narsingdi, allegedly for preparing for an armed robbery.
OC of Belabo police Badrul Alam Khan confirmed the arrest.
The arrested are Roman Mia, son of Deen Islam, of Gobadiya village under Kuliarchar upazila in Kishoreganj, Selim Mia, son of Ramiz Uddin of the same area, Hossain Mia, son of Chandu Mia of North Laksipura village in Kishoreganj district and Mintu Miah, son of Rafiqul Islam, of Rajarampur village of Belabo upazila in Narsingdi.
Police and locals said a gang was preparing to rob the house of Naziruddin behind Poradiya College on Monday in the wee hours.
Sensing this, the residents of the house along with the locals chased them down.
A mob caught four members of the gang with rifles, machetes, knives, etc and one of the gang members managed to flee, the police official said.
The locals later handed the four to the police.
