A suspected member of an international human trafficking gang has allegedly been killed in a gunfight with rivals in the Alikhali Lobonmath area under Teknaf upazila in the district.
The deceased is Amanullah alias Anu, 30, a resident of the Rohingya refugee camp in Nayapara area of the upazila.
Teknaf OC Ataur Rahman Khandakar confirmed the death to the Dhaka Tribune.
He said two rival groups of human traffickers exchanged fire at 4am on Monday in Alikhali Lobonmath. During the gunfight, Anu died on the spot.
On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.
There were six cases filed against Anu with the police station, said the OC.
