Unlicensed revolver used in Emon’s ‘suicide’

Update : 31 May 2015, 07:11 PM

As police find an unlicensed revolver used in the alleged suicide of a Class VIII student, Yasin Sarder Emon, his relatives say they have no idea about the firearm.

Meanwhile, reason behind the death of the teenager could not be unearthed until yesterday. Police suspect that the boy might have committed suicide out of depression.

The driver who lived with the family has remained missing since the incident.

Emon, 15, son of Md Mitul Sarder, is the maternal cousin of SM Rabiul Hasan Sohel, former president of Bangladesh Chhatra League’s Dhaka (south) city unit. His body was found from Sohel’s flat in Madhya Badda area on Saturday night.

Abdul Jalil, OC of Badda police, said: “We have not found the owner of the revolver. Emon’s relatives cannot confirm how he acquired the firearm.”

In the primary report, Sub-Inspector Emranul Hasan mentioned that the police had recovered six live bullets and a bullet shell from the spot. Emon had a bullet injury on his left eyebrow.

Emon’s uncle Anik Sarder said they were not confirm weather it was a suicide or murder. “We hope that the law enforcers will solve the mystery.”

Sohel’s father Mohammad Ali refused to speak on the matter. He said Emon’s father would file a case with the police station after the burial.

Ali said police found the driver’s mobile switched off. “No one could make any contact with him after the incident.”

The OC thinks it is a suicide. “But we cannot confirm before receiving reports.

“Emon could not pass the JSC exam a year ago. He often sought money from his father. For the last few days, he was in depression which may be the reason behind his committing suicide,” OC Jalil told the Dhaka Tribune.
