Customs officials yesterday seized over 7,000 mobiles phones worth around Tk20 crore at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The phones came from Hong Kong in 24 cartons with a fake declaration on a flight of Hong Kong Airlines, a move official said was aimed at evading tax.
Customs preventive team Assistant Commissioner Shahiduzzaman Sarkar said MS Enterprise had smuggled the phones into Bangladesh.
A case was filed with Airport police station in this connection.
The customs team on Thursday night seized around 15,000 cell phones worth around Tk30 crore from the airport’s cargo gate.
Shahiduzzaman said a company named Adamjee Enterprise imported the phones but mentioned in the import documents that it was a consignment of mobile phone chargers.
