Unidentified muggers shot a man in the capital’s Moghbazar and snatched Tk33 lakh yesterday.
Md Selim Akhter, an accountant of medicine distribution company Aqua Marine Distribution Limited, was shot around 1pm when he and a colleague were heading for Brac Bank’s Moghbazar branch to deposit the money.
Selim’s colleague Pintu Ranjan Das said: “Some five to six men swooped on us and tried to snatch the money when we were halfway between the bank and our office.
“They snatched Tk3,327,250 from us. Of the amount, Tk1,700,000 was in Selim’s bag. As he denied to give the bag to the muggers, they shot him, snatched the bag and ran away,” he said.
