A Chittagong court yesterday sentenced a housewife and two others to life and another person seven years imprisonment on charges of killing a Mansur Ahammad in Chittagong’s Boalkhali upazila in 2010.
The convicts sentenced to life term imprisonment are the victim’s wife Saleha Begum Munni, Md Jasim, and Md Jahid; another accused Roni Dutta got seven years, said court sources adding that the four were also fined Tk10,000 or an additional one-year imprisonment in default.
The court of First Additional District Sessions Judge, Md Rakibul Islam, passed the order yesterday in presence of accused Munni and Jasim while the other two accused are absconding, said Inspector Onu Mong of Chittagong district court.
According to the case documents, the four convicted including the wife of Mansur strangled him to death in his residence at Paschim Saroatoli of Boalkhali on March 29, 2010 over conjugal feud.
Later, the killers cut up the body, put it in a sack and dumped it into a river.
