A teenage boy killed a six-year-old girl after rape in Mohammadpur, Dhaka a week ago, police said yesterday.
The body of victim Nasima Akhter Mukta was found inside a reserve water tank at Satmasjid Housing area, where she lived with her parents, near Mohammadpur embankment on May 14. Killer Al Amin, 16, is the son of the manager of the rented house, a press release issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Police stated.
Mukta’s father Mostafizur Rahman said Mukta went missing around 1pm on the day of the incident. They found her body floating in the tank around 4pm and notified police.
On information, a team from Mohammadpur police station went and recovered the body around 4:45pm and sent it to DMCH.
Police started investigating the incident after Mostafiz filed a case with the police station in this regard on May 15, said Azizul Haque, OC at Mohammadpur police station.
Al Amin was arrested at his residence in the same neighbourhood on Monday, the OC said.
He was produced before Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on May 19, where he confessed to killing Mukta after raping her on May 14 afternoon, the DMP press release said.
