4 outlawed party members arrested

The members of RAB arrested four members of an outlawed party in Tangail in the early hours of Sunday.

The arrestees are Md Afzal Hossain, 32, leader of Purba Bangla Communist Party ML (Lal Pataka), and his team member Md Abul Hossain, 45, Md Abdur Rahman, 32, and Md Abdur Rahim, 26.

Additional Superintendent of Police Muhammad Mohiuddin Faruquee, also commander of Crime Prevention Company 3 of RAB12, said, acting on secret information, a team of RAB raided the house of Afzal Hossain at Beguntal village at around 5am.

“When we tried to enter the house, breaking the door, Afzal opened fire on us. However, none of us sustained injuries. Later, we arrested him along with retrieving two US-made 7.65mm pistols, five rounds of bullets, and two magazines.”

Acting on his statement,  three others were arrested from their houses on the same day.

All of the arrestees have involvement with an extremist group, said Mohiuddin Faurquee.

A case was lodged with the Tangail Model police station.
