A suspected robber and three police personnel were killed in a gunfight at Bagmara upazila in Khulna.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police SM Moniruzzaman Mithu said a team of police had gone to the Burir Bagan area along with AL-Mamun, who was arrested earlier in connection with a robbery, to recover arms and ammunition on Tuesday night, when his accomplices opened fire on law enforcers, triggering a gun battle.
During the gun battle, Mamun received a bullet injury. Police took him to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
Sub-Inspector of Khulna Sadar Police station Debashis Roy told the Dhaka Tribune that Officer-in-Charge of the police station Sukumar Biswas and Sub-Inspector Aziz were undergoing treatment at the KMCH.
