The High Court has issued a ruling asking why necessary instructions will not be provided to stop the harassment in the name of making YouTube prank videos.
A bench of Justice Jubayer Rahman Chowdhury and Justice Md Iqbal Kabir issued the ruling on Monday after hearing a writ filed by Supreme Court lawyers Barrister Noor Mohammed Azmi and Barrister Mizan-ur Rashid.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police commissioner, inspector general of police, the chairman and secretary of BTRC, secretary of home affairs and the secretary of science and technology were asked to respond to the ruling.
Barrister Noor Mohammad Azmi said: “We have some responsibilities towards the society as lawyers. We noticed random people; mostly girls who go to school and college; who are being harassed on the streets in the name of pranks. We can become victims of these anytime. We filed the writ to stop such harassment.”The story was first published on the Bangla Tribune
