According to the case statement, an altercation broke out during a conference of the Ward 2 unit of the Awami League in Goalanda, Rajbari, on October 14, 2019.
The argument took place between Bablu Sardar, son of former chairman Atar Ali and a Jubo League leader, and Hafizul Islam, chairman of Debgram Union Parishad.
At one stage, Hafizul allegedly pushed Bablu out of the conference.
Later, a group led by Atar Ali attacked Hafizul’s supporters at the three-road intersection near Atar Ali Bazar while they were returning from the program, the case statement says.
Rezaul, son of complainant Md Mobarak Molla, was passing through the area when the accused beat him up.
Locals took him to Goalanda Government Hospital by rickshaw in critical condition. He was later referred to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Mobarak later filed the murder case.
After investigating the case, police submitted a charge sheet against 22 people on October 5, 2022.
