The Appellate Division has upheld the bail granted to former Narayanganj mayor Selina Hayat Ivy in 10 cases filed over allegations including murder.
Lawyers said there is now no legal bar to her release for the time being.
The Appellate Division led by the Chief Justice dismissed the state’s appeal against the High Court order on Sunday. Senior Advocate Mohammad Motahar Hossain Saju appeared for Ivy during the hearing.
Ivy was arrested in the early hours of May 9, 2025, from Chunka Kutir in the Deobhog area of Narayanganj. She was later shown arrested in multiple cases.
The High Court initially granted her bail in five cases, but the Appellate Division subsequently stayed the order.
Later, on November 18, Ivy was shown arrested in five additional cases.
On February 26, a High Court bench comprising Justice K M Zahid Sarwar and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher granted her bail in those cases as well.
