The High Court has issued a rule asking why the registration of house helps should not be made mandatory across the country, including the capital. The secretaries of the Law Ministry and the Labour Ministry, along with the relevant authorities, have been asked to respond within four weeks.
The rule was issued on Sunday by a High Court bench comprising Justice Razik Al Jalil and Justice Debashish Roy Chowdhury after a preliminary hearing of the writ petition.
Advocate Khadijatul Kobra represented the petitioner during the hearing.
Earlier, Advocate Khadijatul Kobra had filed the writ petition with the High Court seeking directives to make the registration of house helps mandatory nationwide. The petition also sought instructions for the proper implementation of laws concerning house helps.
