A Dhaka court has ordered the seizure of income tax records of former Air chief marshal Sheikh Abdul Hannan and his wife Tahmida Begum.
The order was issued on Monday by Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Sabbir Faiz following a petition by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), said bench assistant Md Riaz Hossain of the concerned court.
On the day, ACC Assistant Director Mahmudul Hasan filed two separate petitions. The applications stated that Sheikh Abdul Hannan and his wife are taxpayers, and for the sake of a proper investigation, it is essential to seize all relevant records and information, including the permanent and miscellaneous sections of their income tax files from the time of opening up to the 2024–25 tax year.
After the hearing, the court granted the petitions. Earlier, on May 6, the court had ordered the seizure of Hannan’s assets.
