A Dhaka court has ordered the issuance of an Interpol Red Notice for the arrest of Tulip Rizwana Siddiq, the daughter of Sheikh Rehana, sister of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, in connection with a corruption case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Foyez issued the order following an application from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

On the day, ACC’s Assistant Director AKM Mortuza Ali Sagar applied for a notice to arrest the fugitive accused. After hearing the case, the court approved the request and issued the order. The court bench assistant, Md Riaz Hossain, confirmed the matter.

The ACC’s petition states that the case was filed against Tulip Siddiq for allegedly obtaining illegal benefits from Eastern Housing Limited, including unearned gratuities, such as taking possession of a flat without paying any money, through abuse of power.

The petition further alleges that, despite knowing the property could not legally be transferred due to serious irregularities favoring Eastern Housing Limited, Siddiq, taking advantage of her aunt Sheikh Hasina being in power, and her own family ties, illegally influenced RAJUK’s legal officers.

She allegedly obtained approval for the flat sale and acquired flat no B/201, house no 5A and 5B (old), currently 11A and 11B (new), Road no. 71, Gulshan, without payment.

According to the ACC, the accused left the country before the case was filed and is attempting to destroy evidence and documents related to the case.
