A Dhaka court has granted a five-day remand for Khadija Yasmin Bithi, the daughter of top criminal Subrata Bain, in the case of the killing of Jubo Dal leader Arif.

The order was given on Thursday, by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sara Farzana Haque.

Earlier, a seven-day remand had been requested on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, the investigating officer of the case,  Inspector Md Majharul Islam of the Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), had requested the court to keep the accused in custody.

However, as the main case file was not available, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Hasibuzzaman scheduled the remand hearing for Thursday. SI Arif Reza of the prosecution department confirmed the information.

Prior to this, Bithi was arrested last Monday in front of the Comilla District Jail.

According to case details, on the night of April 19, Jubo Dal leader Md Arif Sikder was shot in front of "The Jhil Cafe" on Nayatola Morol Lane under Hatirjheel police station.

He was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition and died on April 21 while receiving treatment.

Arif Sikder was the former joint sports secretary of Jubo Dal, Ward 36, Dhaka Metropolitan North.

Following the incident, Arif’s sister, Rima Akter, filed an attempted murder case at Hatirjheel police station against Subrata Bain’s associate Mahfuzur Rahman Bipu and 10 others.

After Arif’s death, the case was converted into a murder case. Subrata Bain was later arrested and interrogated during remand in connection with this case.
