A Dhaka court on Tuesday placed former member of parliament (MP) from the Manikganj-2 constituency and singer Momtaz Begum on a four-day remand in connection with the murder of one Md Sagor during the July-August mass uprising.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana issued the order after police produced Momtaz before the court and sought a seven-day remand in the case, which was filed with the city's Mirpur Model police station.
Earlier, a team from the Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Momtaz Begum from the Dhanmondi area on Monday night.
She has been accused in multiple cases related to the July-August mass uprising.
According to case documents, hawker Md Sagor had joined an anti-discrimination student rally on July 19 at the Mirpur-10 intersection.
He was fatally shot around 4pm during the protest. A case was filed in this connection on November 27 against 242 individuals, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
