The court has denied bail to 11 individuals arrested in connection with the murder of lawyer Mohammad Saiful Islam Alif.

The bail hearing was held on Thursday at the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Shahriar Hasan in Chittagong. After the hearing, the court rejected their bail petitions.

This information was confirmed by Mohammad Mofiz Uddin, ADC (Prosecution) of the Chittagong Metropolitan Police.

The 11 accused, whose bail petitions were heard in the court, include Prem Nandan Das, 19, Ronop Das, 24, Bidhan Das, 29, Bikash Das, 24, Rumit Das, 30, Raj Kapoor, 55, Samir Das, 25, Shib Kumar Das, 23, Om Das, 26, Ajay Das, 30, and Debi Charan, 36.

On November 26, Chandan Kumar Dhar, also known as Chinmoy Krishna Das, the spokesperson of Bangladesh Sammilita Sanatani Jagaran Jote and a former Iskcon leader, was presented in court for a hearing in a sedition case.

On that day, the court rejected his bail application and ordered his imprisonment.

Following this, Chinmoy Krishna Das’s followers created chaos in the court premises, lying in front and behind the prison van carrying him, leading to a disturbance that lasted about two and a half to three hours.

During the commotion, general lawyers, devotees, and people seeking justice were seen running around the court premises. In the midst of this, lawyer Mohammad Saiful Islam Alif was tragically killed in an attack by followers of Chinmoy Krishna Das.

On November 30, Alif’s father, Jamal Uddin, filed a case at Kotowali police station over the incident.
