A court on Monday placed former state minister for ICT, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, on a four-day remand in a case filed with the city's Jatrabari police station over the murder of Obaidul Islam during the July uprising.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiak issued the order after police produced Palak before the court and sought a seven-day remand.
The court also ordered the former state minister to be shown as arrested in two additional cases filed with Jatrabari police station.
Obaidul Islam died on August 5, 2024, in the Hanif Flyover Toll Plaza area in Jatrabari after being attacked by police and Awami League (AL) cadres.
The Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Palak from the capital's Nikunja residential area on August 14, 2024.
He has since been shown as arrested and placed on different terms of remand in multiple cases filed over crimes committed to suppress the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
