A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on former member of parliament for Magura-1, Saifuzzaman Shikhor, and his wife, Seema Rahman, in connection with a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) over allegations of acquiring wealth beyond known sources of income.
On Sunday, Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Jakir Hossain Galib issued the order following a petition from the ACC.
On the same day, ACC's assistant director and the investigating officer of the case, Zakir Hossain, submitted the petition, requesting a travel ban on the couple to ensure a proper investigation.
Previously, on October 15 last year, the court had also issued a similar travel restriction based on an ACC petition.
Saifuzzaman Shikhor was previously an assistant private secretary to former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
He was elected as the MP for Magura-1 in 2018.
