The High Court has directed the deputy commissioner (DC) and superintendent of police (SP) of Barguna to ensure the safety of a teenage rape survivor and her family.

A High Court bench, comprising Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Debasish Roy Chowdhury, issued this order on Tuesday following a supplementary petition.

Additionally, the court ordered the DC and SP of Magura to ensure the security of the elder sister of an eight-year-old girl who died after rape. This security is to be provided through the Department of Social Services.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has been instructed to take necessary measures to raise public awareness about Section 14 of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.

Barristers Hamidul Misbah and Syed Mahsib Hossain represented the petition in court.

Section 14 of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act states that the identity of a woman or child who has been subjected to rape or abuse cannot be disclosed. Violation of this provision carries a penalty of up to two years of imprisonment.
