The date for the verdict on the bail of 239 detained BDR members in the explosives case related to the Pilkhana massacre has been postponed.
Judge Md Ibrahim Mia of Dhaka's Special Tribunal-2 scheduled a new date on Monday, as confirmed by Prosecutor Abdul Hannan Bhuiyan.
The court has now set April 10 as the new date for the ruling.
Earlier, on March 13, a hearing on the bail petitions took place.
Following the hearing, the court initially set Sunday for the verdict. However, instead of delivering the verdict on Sunday, the court postponed it to Monday.
Prosecutor Borhan Uddin explained the reason for the postponement. "The bail petition included names of convicts sentenced to death and life imprisonment, as well as a duplicate name. The issue of bail for those sentenced to death and life imprisonment will not be resolved here. The defence lawyers should have been more careful when filing the petition."
Earlier, on January 19, the same court granted bail to 178 BDR members. They were released from Keraniganj and Kashimpur prisons on January 23.
The BDR mutiny took place on February 25-26, 2009, at the headquarters of the border security force in Pilkhana, Dhaka, resulting in the deaths of 74 people, including 57 army officers.
