A Dhaka court on Thursday imposed a travel ban on Mohammad Shafeenul Islam, a former major general in the Bangladesh Army and former director general of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and his wife Shoma Islam, in a graft case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Jakir Hossain Galib passed the order following a petition filed by Sabikun Nahar, deputy director of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to the petition, Shafeenul and his wife were found involved in accumulating illegal wealth through corruption and embezzling money after misusing power.
Major General Md Shafeenul joined as the director general of BGB on March 28, 2018.
