A Dhaka court on Sunday imposed a travel ban on former deputy attorney general (DAG) Jannatul Ferdousi Rupa in connection with graft allegations.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Jakir Hossain Galib issued the order, granting a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
ACC Deputy Director (Public Relations) Akhtarul Islam confirmed that the commission is investigating allegations of amassing substantial illegal wealth through corruption, including securing bail for individuals accused in various cases in exchange for money.
"The accused may attempt to flee the country to evade justice, and if she succeeds, the investigation will be jeopardized. Therefore, a travel ban should be imposed on her," the petition stated.
