Update : 30 Dec 2024, 02:43 PM

Michael Chakma, a leader of the United Peoples Democratic Front (UPDF), has filed a written complaint against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and eight others.

The complaint was submitted on Monday at the office of the chief prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal.

Previously, Michael Chakma was allegedly abducted on April 9, 2019, according to his family and party.

Since then, his whereabouts have been unknown.

In response to his abduction, UPDF, along with its allied organizations, progressive and human rights groups, and his family members, have conducted various protests.

Amnesty International and individuals working in the field of human rights have also expressed concern and demanded the government locate Michael Chakma.

Additionally, the family filed a complaint at Narayanganj police station and a writ petition with the High Court seeking Michael's whereabouts, but no action was taken by the government to rescue him.

However, after five years of disappearance, UPDF activist Michael Chakma returned on August 7. On that day, he was released blindfolded in a location in Chittagong during the early hours.
