Former state minister for ICT, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, will be interrogated by the International Crimes Tribunal's investigation agency regarding the nationwide internet shutdown during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

Chief Prosecutor Md Tajul Islam informed reporters about the court’s approval to question Palak following a hearing on Tuesday.

He said: "We submitted a request to interrogate him, which the court has granted. Palak will be brought to the investigation agency’s office on December 18 for questioning."

He added: "Palak was aware of the plans for genocide in July-August and directly carried out responsibilities to implement them. His interrogation is essential to uncover details about these matters."

Md Tajul Islam also said: "During the mass killings, while serving as Bangladesh’s ICT minister, Palak disconnected the internet, isolating the country from the rest of the world. This obstructed the dissemination of information about the mass killings and attempted to conceal the crime globally. It is necessary to determine who instructed him or who else was involved."

Earlier, 13 individuals, including nine former ministers, were presented before the International Crimes Tribunal on charges of mass killings and crimes against humanity in July-August.
