Update : 02 Dec 2024, 07:00 PM

The High Court on Monday ordered to appoint administrator at Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) and hold election of its executive committee afterwards.

A High Court division bench of Justice Fahmida Quader and Justice Mubina Asaf passed the order while disposing of two separate writ petitions filed in this regard.

The court ordered commerce secretary to execute the order within four weeks.

Senior advocates Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar, Barrister Md Ruhul Quddus Kazal argued for BAIRA, while senior advocates Zainul Abdin, Ahsanul Karim, Advocate Mohammad Siddik Ullah Miah and Advocate Abdullah Al Mamun took part in the hearing for the BAIRA members.

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on November 11 had imposed a status quo on the BAIRA election till November 19. The top court on November 19 extended the status quo until the disposal of a rule issued in this regard.

It also asked the High Court to dispose of the rule soon. In line with that order, the High Court today came up with the decision after holding hearing on two separate pleas and the rule.
