The High Court on Tuesday directed authorities to stop the operation of battery-operated rickshaws in Dhaka within three days.
The court also issued a ruling questioning why the inaction of the authorities in banning these rickshaws should not be declared illegal.
The directive came from a High Court bench comprising Justice Fatema Najib and Justice Mahmudur Razi following a preliminary hearing on a writ petition.
Advocates Sanjid Siddiqui and Tahsina Mridu represented the petitioners in court.
