Former agriculture minister and Awami League presidium member Abdur Razzaque has been placed on remand for 15 days in three separate cases filed in Tangail, involving two murder incidents and a shooting at a rally.

On Monday afternoon, Abdur Razzaque was brought to the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court under strict security measures from the district jail, where members of BNP, Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, Gono Odhikar Parishad, and Jamaat-e-Islami protested and threw eggs at him, demanding justice.

Court sources said that Razzaque was first produced at the Madhupur Judicial Court for a case regarding an attack on anti-discrimination student protestors on August 4.

Police filed a petition of a seven-day remand, and Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Mahmudul Mohsin granted five days.

The case, filed by Md Zahid Hasan, claims an attack took place on August 4 in Madhupur, injuring several protestors.

Razzaque was named as the main accused in the case filed on September 25.

The Awami League leader was then presented at the Tangail Judicial Court for the murder case of school student Maruf, who was killed by gunfire during a rally on August 5 in Tangail city.

Police requested a seven-day remand, and Senior Judicial Magistrate Pashupati Biswas granted five days.

The case, filed by Maruf’s mother on August 18, identifies Razzaque as the main accused.

Lastly, Razzaque was presented at the Mirzapur Judicial Court for the murder case of college student Iman, who was critically injured by gunfire at a rally in Gorai, Mirzapur, on August 4 and passed away on August 18 while receiving treatment.

Police requested a seven-day remand, and Judge Ismat Ara granted five days.

The case was filed by Iman’s brother on August 19, with Razzaque listed as the main accused.

Tangail’s Officer-in-Charge, Tanvir Ahmed, said "Abdur Razzaque will be placed under a 15-day remand for three cases. He has been brought to the police station following the court's order."

Previously, on October 14, Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) arrested Abdur Razzaque in New Eskaton, Dhaka, at around 7:30pm.
