A Dhaka court has granted a three-day remand for Workers Party of Bangladesh President and former minister Rashed Khan Menon in the attempted murder case of BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbubul Haque granted the remand period after Shahbagh police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Mainul Islam Khan Pulak, the investigating officer of the case, presented Menon at the court on Tuesday.
On December 15, 2018, Mirza Abbas was attacked while campaigning for the BNP in the Segunbagicha area under Ramna police station.
The assailants struck Mirza Abbas with rods, intending to kill him.
The plaintiff, Imam Hossain Imon, held on to Mirza Abbas to protect him, but both sustained severe injuries to their backs, heads, and arms.
