A Dhaka court has placed former national parliament chief whip ASM Firoz on a seven-day remand in a murder case.
Police produced the accused before the court and sought a 10-day remand on Saturday.
After the hearing, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim granted a seven-day remand.
On Friday night, police arrested the Awami League leader from his Banani residence.
ASM Firoz, an MP from Patuakhali-2 constituency, was the chief whip of the 10th parliament.
Firoz was elected Awami League lawmaker for Patuakhali-2 in 1991, 1996, 2008, 2014, 2018 and 2024.
