A writ petition was filed in this regard

Update : 12 Aug 2024, 04:48 PM

The High Court has directed the authorities concerned not to collect tolls from ambulances carrying patients on roads, highways, bridges and flyovers across the country.

The High Court bench of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Md Bazlur Rahman passed the order after hearing a writ petition.

Advocate Md Monir Uddin stood for the writ petitioner.

Earlier, the writ lawyer appealed to the authorities not to take tolls from ambulances on roads, highways, bridges, flyover tunnels, ferries and expressways.

According to the petition, stopping an ambulance to collect tolls is akin to an inhumane act.

Every second is crucial for an ill patient. In some cases, patients are left stranded at the toll plazas, succumbing to their condition before the ambulance can proceed.
