Law Adviser Asif Nazrul has urged protesters not to surround or vandalize courts outside Dhaka, emphasizing that such actions are not part of the movement’s agenda.
He delivered this message during a Facebook Live session shortly after 12:30pm on Saturday.
Asif Nazrul said: "I have received disturbing reports that district courts have been surrounded in some areas. I urge the protesting students not to engage in any vandalism at the courts. There is no need to surround them. The expectation from the students was the resignation of the chief justice of the Supreme Court and other judges, not actions against lower courts. There is no program targeting the lower courts at this time."
He added: "Under no circumstances should you harm the lower courts. Even in this situation, they are trying to serve you by continuing their work. They will rectify the mistakes of the past. As the responsible adviser of the Ministry of Law, I assure you of this."
The adviser further stressed: "You must ensure the safety of the judges in the lower courts at all costs. Protect the court buildings and calm those who may become riotous."
