3 Jamaat-Shibir leaders remanded

CTTC arrested them on July 27

A Dhaka court has granted the remand application for three individuals, including the former president of Shibir and two leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami, who were arrested from the area under Dhanmondi police station.

Police Inspector Abul Bashar of the Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit, the investigating officer of the case, on Sunday presented the accused in court and applied for a 10-day remand. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Zaki Al Farabi's court ordered the remand.

The remanded accused are Rashedul Islam Rashed, a central member of Jamaat-e-Islami and former president of Chhatra Shibir, Jamaat-e-Islami Treasurer Khandaker Mizanur Rahman, and Jamaat-e-Islami member Mohammad Abdur Rashid.

On the same day, Abdur Razzak filed a bail application on behalf of the accused, which the state opposed. After the hearing, the court remanded all three for seven days.

Mahfuzur Rahman, sub-inspector of the general registration wing of Dhanmondi model police station, confirmed the information.

On July 27, the CTTC arrested them from an office adjacent to Sat Masjid Road in Dhanmondi. During the arrest, cocktails and ammunition were also recovered. In connection with this incident, CTTC Inspector SM Gaffarul Alam filed a case at Dhanmondi Model police station, naming 105 individuals and including 400-500 anonymous accused.
