A Dhaka court on Saturday sent Constable Kawser Ali to jail after serving a seven-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of his colleague Monirul Islam in Dhaka’s Baridhara diplomatic zone.
Gulshan police station Sub-Inspector Md Abdul Mannaf, also the investigation officer of the case, produced the accused before the court and pleaded to keep him in jail.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saiful Islam passed the order after the hearing.
On June 9, the court placed Kawsar on a seven-day remand.
On June 8, Kawser, at around 11pm went rogue and started random firing in front of the Palestine Embassy in Dhaka. His colleague Monirul received a gunshot and died on the spot.
Two pedestrians were also injured in the firing.
The deceased’s brother Md Mahbubul Haque filed the case with Gulshan police station.
