A Comilla on Wednesday rejected the bail plea of Jagannath University teacher Din Islam, who was relieved from the post of assistant proctor by the university, in a case over the death of law department student Fairuz Abontika.
Din Islam's lawyers appealed for bail on Wednesday.
Comilla Senior Judicial Magistrate M Abu Bakar Siddique rejected the application.
The plaintiff's lawyer Advocate Syed Nurur Rahman confirmed the matter.
On Tuesday, a Comilla court sent Din Islam to jail after the completion of his one-day remand.
On Monday, the court placed Jagannath University’s suspended student Raihan Siddique Amman and teacher Din Islam on a two and one-day remand, respectively, in the case.
The court also ordered the investigating officer to submit a report within seven days.
Abontika, a student of the 2017-18 academic year, was found dead at her Comilla residence after accusing classmate Amman and teacher Din Islam in a Facebook post at around 10pm on March 15.
In the post, Abontika said Amman Siddique and Din Islam would be responsible for her suicide.
Hours after her death, massive protests broke out and have continued, demanding justice for the student.
