A Dhaka court has set March 19 for pronouncing its verdict in a case over the Hallmark embezzlement against 18 people, including the Hallmark managing director, filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Judge M Abul Kashem of Dhaka Special Judge Court-1 fixed the date after the hearing in the case concluded on Tuesday, ACC lawyer Mir Ahmed Salam said.
According to the case documents, the 18 accused, including Hallmark Group Managing Director Md Tanvir Mahmud and his wife and company Chairman Jasmine Islam, are accused of embezzling Tk16.50 crore after taking out loans amounting to Tk525.62 crore in the name of non-existent Max Spinning Mills.
The ACC filed the case on October 4, 2012 with the capital's Ramna police station.
