Detective Branch (DB) of police on Wednesday filed a supplementary charge sheet against BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman in a case filed under now replaced Digital Security Act (DSA) for declaring his father Ziaur Rahman as the father of the nation.
Police also pleaded for issuing a warrant to arrest Tarique Rahman by showing him as a fugitive and attaching his properties here.
After receiving the charge sheet, Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sultan Sohagh Uddin transferred the case to a cyber tribunal for further proceedings.
The investigation officer Sub-Inspector Hasanuzzaman of DB in the charge sheet said the BNP leader declared Ziaur Rahman the father of the nation at a party meeting and gave weird logic behind this. He aimed to destabilize a stable situation prevailing in the country.
Dhaka University Chhatra League leader Zahidul Islam filed the case at the Shahbagh Police Station on February 25, 2021.
